BRIDAL SUITE by Virginia Faulkner March 19th in Los Angeles

Come help me give a big Los Angeles via Nebraska welcome for Virginia Faulkner’s biographer, Brad Bigelow, on March 19th in downtown LA at ASU California Center Grand.

This will be my first time meeting Brad in person after a nearly fifteen year virtual communication regarding his research on my distant relative, Virginia Faulkner. Brad pieced together the puzzle that I dumped out of Virginia brother’s file boxes over ten years ago, tirelessly connecting the dots to reconstruct the picture of not only her life story but in my own matrilineal line, for which I am ever so grateful.

To celebrate the release of Brad’s new book, VIRGINIA FAULKNER: A LIFE IN TWO ACTS join me with Lost Ladies of Lit Podcast hosts Kim Askew and Amy Helmes at the Arizona State University’s Los Angeles Campus on Thursday, March 19th 2026 when ASU’s The Herberger School for Design and Arts will be screening the 1939 film Bridal Suite. The picture is Virginia’s one produced writing credit from her years at MGM, which are detailed in the new biography.

Bridal Suite screening
Thursday, March. 19, 2026 6:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m.
919 S. Grand Ave. Los Angeles, CA 90015
Tickets are free, but reservations are required

Fashion Institute of Design & Merchandising ASU FIDM Museum curator Christina Frank will be providing context before the film and Brad will share about VIRGINIA FAULKNER: A LIFE IN TWO ACTS published by Bison Books. This event is presented by the Herberger Institute for Design and the Arts in collaboration with the ASU FIDM Museum and The Sidney Poitier New American Film School.

Fun fact, it was the late Ron Hull who connected Brad to the University of Nebraska Press! Ron was one of Virginia’s most steadfast supporters and I am so grateful for his influence on this project. I know Ron will be joining us in spirit.
