Father’s Day on the Horizon

Father’s Day is a month away.  I don’t know about your dad, but mine has high expectations for any gift giving season.  I better start thinking early.   Gifts can come in one of three forms for him; The Mystery Package, The Homemade Handy Man Package, and the I-Bought-It-For-You-Because-It-Is-What-I-Really-Wanted Package.

SunflowerAs an alternative to these complicated packages a well written piece of text, preferably in the form of a poem, usually gets the job done.  In honor of Father’s Day, I created the Sunset Sunflower card for my Etsy Shop, Cards for Grandmother.  With plenty of space in the blank interior I know I can fit a skilfully crafted stanza that captures my love and appreciation while drawing on the larger meaning of father in an existential context.  I told you the expectations were high, didn’t I?

All jokes aside, I love my father very much and appreciate the outlook he has given me.  His mother’s child, I know my Sita instilled in him the same standards that he now has for me.  Though the expectations are high, I think I am up for the challenge.  Are you?
